The Drop-In

Half an hour, on a Tuesday, for nothing.

You've read about The Relaxation Room and you're not sure. That's fair. You've never heard my voice, and you're being asked to pay for something you'd be doing with your eyes shut.

So come to a Drop-In first. It's free, it's on Zoom, and there's no catch in it anywhere.

Tuesday 27th October, 8.30pm

Half an hour. Free. Anybody can come.

It runs on the last Tuesday of every month, so if this one doesn't suit, the next one will.

What happens

A small version of the real thing

We start with questions. Anything you want to ask about relaxation, about hypnosis, or about what the membership is. You can type them in the chat rather than say them out loud.

Then twelve minutes or so of relaxation. That's the bit you came for, and it's the same voice and the same sort of thing you'd get in a full session.

Then I spend a couple of minutes telling you what The Relaxation Room is, in case you want it. That's at the end on purpose, so if you'd rather not hear it you can close the window after the relaxation and I won't know or mind.

Before you come

There's almost nothing to do

Find a chair that holds your head up, or lie down if that's easier. Headphones help, because my voice will be closer and the house will be further away.

Your camera can stay off from start to finish, and nobody has to speak. Plenty of people keep theirs off and type in the chat, and nobody will ask you why.

If you need the loo halfway through, go. Nobody will notice and nobody will mind. Come back when you're ready and pick it up where we are.

Don't join while you're driving or doing anything else that needs you. This is meant to make you drowsy, so be somewhere you can safely relax or drop off.

It's relaxation rather than treatment, and it isn't therapy. It's not the gut-directed work, and I'm not saying it'll do anything for your Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). If you've got something going on with your health, keep seeing your GP about it.

The Drop-In is for adults, 18 and over.

Save me a place

Put your name down

I'll send you the Zoom link, and a reminder on the day so it doesn't go past you.

Afterwards

And if it's not for you

Then it isn't, and that's a useful thing to have found out for nothing.

There's no obligation in any of this. You can come to a Drop-In every month for the rest of the year and never join anything, and you'd still be welcome the month after.

If you'd like to know what the membership is before you come, it's all on The Relaxation Room page.

Confidence, in life and in rooms

The other half of this practice is HypnoGirl: confidence in your body, in a room full of strangers, at work and out networking. Same person, same approach.

Hypnotherapy is not a substitute for medical care and does not diagnose any condition. This work is relaxation-based and is offered alongside the care you receive from your GP. Gut-directed hypnotherapy is referred to in the UK clinical guidelines for irritable bowel syndrome: the British Society of Gastroenterology guideline gives it a strong recommendation on low-quality evidence, and NICE says referral for psychological interventions, including hypnotherapy, should be considered for people whose IBS has not responded to pharmacological treatment after twelve months and is described as refractory. This is not a promise of personal results. Results vary from person to person and no approach helps everyone. This site is for information only. Please get a diagnosis from your GP and see your GP about any new, changing or persistent symptoms, so that other conditions can be ruled out.
