Ask me first

Most people who write to me want to know whether this works for their sort of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), or whether they need a diagnosis before they start. Some want to know what happens if they get halfway through and nothing has shifted. Those are fair questions, and I would rather answer them now than have you pay for something that turns out to be the wrong fit.

I read and answer these myself. You will not get a sales sequence back.

Messages usually get an answer the same working day, and always within two. If two days go by and you have heard nothing from me, it has gone astray, so chase me.

If you work with people who have IBS

GP, gastroenterology colleague, dietitian, nutritionist or physiotherapist: there is a short evidence brief for referrers, and I am happy to work alongside the care you already give.

Email me and I will send it over, or say so in the message above.

Not ready to talk

Start with the recording instead

If you are not ready to say anything to anybody yet, that is fine. Twelve Minutes of Calm is a free general relaxation recording, and it comes with Gut Feelings, one short email a week.

Confidence, in life and in rooms

The other half of this practice is HypnoGirl: confidence in your body, in a room full of strangers, at work and out networking. Same person, same approach.

Hypnotherapy is not a substitute for medical care and does not diagnose any condition. This work is relaxation-based and is offered alongside the care you receive from your GP. Gut-directed hypnotherapy is referred to in the UK clinical guidelines for irritable bowel syndrome: the British Society of Gastroenterology guideline gives it a strong recommendation on low-quality evidence, and NICE says referral for psychological interventions, including hypnotherapy, should be considered for people whose IBS has not responded to pharmacological treatment after twelve months and is described as refractory. This is not a promise of personal results. Results vary from person to person and no approach helps everyone. This site is for information only. Please get a diagnosis from your GP and see your GP about any new, changing or persistent symptoms, so that other conditions can be ruled out.
